CARMEN SAYS....

  • MSU College of Education and Engineering will be partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing to run an Engineering program around green energy technologies.  
  • The succession plan was distributed at our last board meeting.  If there are any questions or if you need another copy, please contact Emily.
  • South Lansing Business Association will be presenting an award to the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing at their Annual Awards Banquet, April 11, 2007 at 5:45pm.  To RSVP please contact Emily or Carmen. The cost is $40.00 per person.

FINANCIALLY SPEAKING....

With only 1 month left to go in our fiscal year, we finished February 2007 only $1,775 in the red.  I am anticipating that we will end the 2006-2007 year in great shape.  Good work everyone!!

Wednesday, June 6, 2007 – Scramble for Youth Golf Outing at Hawk Hollow!  It is not too late to secure sponsors and register foursomes.  Make sure all registration is in by May 15th, to qualify for a gift certificate for golf at Eagle Eye. We hope to secure 45 teams this year!

The Resource Development committee currently meets on the third Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club. If you are interested in serving on the RD Committee please contact Sandra.

  • National Boys & Girls Club Week - During the last week of March, the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing will be celebrating National Boys & Girls Club Week.  A schedule of events can be found below. 

    -Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - Spelling Bee
    -Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - Feature A Teacher
    -Thursday, March 29, 2007 - Talent Show
    -Friday, March 30, 2007 @ 6:00 pm - Basketball Game, The Club vs. 96.5 (If any Board Members are interested in playing in this game, please contact James at (517)394-0455)
    -Saturday, March 31, 2007 - Bring a Friend/Community Day

  • Ta'Shara Francis Brown has been chosen as our local 2007 Youth of the Year.  She is a Sophomore at Everett High School, and just competed in Toledo, OH for the State Youth of the Year.  Although she was not chosen to represent Michigan, we are still very proud of all her hard work.
  • Sutton Garden Project is starting to put its roots down.  The ground has been tilled, and is ready for planting.
  • The Learning Center has been upgraded with 15 new computers from IBM.  They feature 17 inch LCD screens with built in speakers.  When you have a chance, swing by and take a look.
  • If there are any Board Members interested in joining the Program Committee, please Laurie Schwartz.
