Girl Scouts

Ages: 8 - 10

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with dedicated adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, such as leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self worth.

Girls Scouts was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. The Girl Scouts' membership, globally, has grown from 18 members in Savannah, Georgia, to 3.7 million members throughout the United States, including U.S. territories, and in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.

The Boys & Girls Club of Lansing has a traditional troop in our club. This gives our girls ages 8 - 12 the opportunity to be involved in an organization that is solely for girls outside the walls of the Boys & Girls Club. Although the program is implemented at the club, the girls are able to be involved in other programs offered through the Girl Scout Council. Today we have 15 active girls in the program and we are growing. The girls in this group show excellent leadership skills and self esteem.
