Healthy Lifestyle PROGRAMS
The Healthy Lifestyles curriculum emphasizes the importance of health equity and life skills, including daily physical activity, social-emotional learning, and nutrition. With programs like Healthy Habits and SMART Moves, our goal is to equip Club members with the knowledge and resources on how to properly nourish and strengthen their bodies, which is key to achieving academic success, developing athletic and creative skills, and fostering lifelong habits for great futures.

HEALTHY HABITS
Our Healthy Habits program teaches Club members how to prepare balanced meals, read food labels, and make healthier choices that are accessible and meaningful to them. Club members also learn that STEM is not restricted to the classroom or the lab but also happens when they cook and prepare meals in our state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. A key component of the Healthy Habits curriculum, our Culinary STEM program introduces Club members to food science, kitchen safety, and meal planning, which in turn builds their confidence in the kitchen and enables them to explore new opportunities and recipes that they might otherwise have considered out of their reach.

SMART MOVES
SMART Moves empowers Club members to make healthy decisions related to their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. With a range of curriculums built around targeted age groups, Club members build strong social-emotional skills and learn skills and techniques for dealing with peer-pressure and saying no to risky behaviors.

GARDEN CLUB
Many youth we serve only think of their food as coming from a box or a can rather than a seed in the ground. In Garden Club, Club members have access to the Club garden and learn all the work it takes to foster a seed into a successful harvest by getting their hands dirty. Club members are encouraged to take ownership of the garden and choose the seeds to plant and plan the layout in addition to doing the weeding, the planting, and the watering. At the end of the season, participants reap the rewards of their hard work and can bring the fruits and vegetables that they helped grow to their families. Gardening is a lifelong skill well-suited for developing a healthy lifestyle and an appreciation for our planet.
